A Video Made at Galerie Lareuse

Picasso, Miró, Calder, Matisse, Chagall, Kandinsky, Dufy, all together in the cozy room of Galerie Lareuse, in Georgetown, on the M Street. Kreg Kelley is the curator of the gallery. He is young, enthusiastic and very capable.

Each visit at the gallery is an exciting adventure: you'll discover each time lithographs you didn't know they were there.

I discovered on the web another gallery of prints and lithographs, this time in England, it's Idbury Prints, and it's managed by Neil Philip, a poet, a folklorist, and a great art lover. Each time I am on the web on one of the two galleries, I also dream at the other. Each one is a fabulous place.

La Luna Llena - Trying Reverse Translation Again

I found this image in the blog of María Jesús Lamora: Amantes en la Luz de Luna, by Chagall. I was looking for the original of a poem by Juan Ramón Jiménez: La Luna Llena.

I had started from the English version (Full Moon):

The door is open,
the cricket is singing.
Are you going around naked
in the fields?

Like an immortal water,
going in and out of everything.
Are you going around naked
in the air?

The basil is not asleep,
the ant is busy.
Are you going around naked
in the house?

I tried firstly a translation into Romanian:

Usa-i deschisa,
greierul taraie vesel,
Nu vrei sa te preumbli despuiat
peste campuri?

Ca o apa fara de moarte,
intrand si iesind din orice.
Nu vrei sa te preumbli despuiat
prin aer?

Libelula nu a adormit,
furnica trebaluieste de zor.
Nu vrei sa te preumbli despuiat
prin casa?

And here is what I got through reverse translation. If you know the original, please correct me!

La puerta está abierta,
el grillo está cantando.
¿Está usted desnudo
en los campos?

Como un agua inmortal,
yendo dentro y fuera todo.
¿Está usted desnudo
en el aire?

La albahaca no está dormida,
la hormiga está ocupada.
¿Está usted desnudo
en la casa?

The eroticism of the verses of Juan Ramón Jiménez is so genuine, it reminds me Forough Farokhzad:

O green from head to foot
place your hands like a burning memory
in my loving hands
give your lips to the caresses
of my loving lips
like the warm perception of being
the wind will take us
the wind will take us.

Marc Chagall - Clown

He 's looking sad, our clown. He lives to give us joy, all his joy, so all that remains to him after is sadness.
