Three Sisters

- June 1st, 2008 -

Once, long before Pale Faces times, there were three sisters, daughters of the chief on one side of the Potomac. They were in love for three brothers, sons of the chief on the other side of the river. So, they were swimming during the night across. Their father found out and was so upset that he decided to transform the flesh of his daughters in stone. Since then, during nights faint sounds of grief are heard from the middle of the river, and boatmen can get madly in love and break their boats in the rocks.

So goes the story, I think it's true.

Do you know the verses of Heine?

Ich weiß nicht, was soll es bedeuten,
Daß ich so traurig bin,
Ein Märchen aus uralten Zeiten,
Das kommt mir nicht aus dem Sinn.
