Abby Sunderland, the Teenager Solitary Sailor

Abby Sunderland is 16 and she convinced her parents to let her sail solo around the world. It was a difficult decision for them, but they couldn't stand the determination of the girl.

A storm in the Indian Ocean damaged the yacht and Abby lost the mast of her vessel. She triggered emergency beacons, but she was thousand of miles far away in the ocean.

Eventually an Australian search plane spotted the courageous girl. Radio contact was made and Abby reported that she was fine. A fishing boat is expected to reach her within 24 hours.
