Evening was fast approaching in the Slovenian town of Piran when the sound of the chimes from Chiesa di San Giorgio came to remind the people there that the piano concerto was about to begin. The sun slanted across the Adriatic, boisterous groups of Slovenians were devouring Balkan sausages and toasting one another — Na zdravje! with local Lasko beer.
