Cristóbal de Morales (Seville, 1500 - Malaga or, according to others, Marchena, 1553), together with Guerrero and Victoria, form the gold triad of the Spanish Renaissance music. No Spanish 16th century composer was so praised in life and for two hundred years after his death, as it was Morales, with nicknames such as excelentisimo Morales, delicioso mvsico, único tanto en la composición como en el canto, maestro magnífico or luz de España en mvsica.
