Beth Flor and the attraction for Vermeer and Magritte

I found in one of my visits to the Principle Gallery two paintings made by an Alaskan artist, Beth Flor. Like Joseph Sudek, she loves the banal objects and knows how to find in them facts of life. She knows that objects talk to each other by using a language of lights and shadows. And she's fascinated by the minutia of Vermeer.
This Solitude at Dusk is laconic, yet says a lot: a suggestion to the bilboquets of Magritte and their metaphysical endeavors...
