Great Falls
There is a challenging trail at Great Falls: kind of jumping over suspended rocks hanging in space. The Potomac can be seen somewhere down.
Even the Virginian side of the Potomac between Key Bridge and Chain Bridge is not that difficult. I made it actually twice, that trail between the two bridges, but this one.
It offers however some quiet spots. Here is a small beach on the trail:
You pass also near some tributaries on your way, like this one:
The Chesapeake-Ohio Canal offers also a superb view at Great Falls, as it gets suddenly very wide there:
There is a small bridge over the canal, I tried to catch it with its reflection in the water:
