Alexandra Pelosi: Friends of God
Alexandra Pelosi tours red state America examining the practices, politics and beliefs of fundamentalist evangelical Christians.
Has this documentary (Friends of God) a parti-pris? Of course. First of all, religious convictions are intimate to anyone. To make somebody speak just to catch her or him off-guard is unfair, to say the least. On the other hand, if people profess publicly their religious convictions then it's their choice to challenge and to be challenged. And then, this documentary is not about atheism versus faith: it's about normality versus fundamentalism.
Now, I believe that fundamentalism can be found on both sides. But this could be a topic for another movie :)
