Condoleezza Rice N-U-C-L-E-A-R

Condoleezza Rice announced the offer of talks with Iran on nukes. The condition is that Iran should stop its enrichment program first. Dr. Rice said also, the Iranian people believe they have a right to civil nuclear energy and we acknowledge that right.

What are the prospects for diplomacy? There are no many optimists, but there are various levels of pessimism (to paraphrase David Brooks, who comments this stance shift in the NY Times of today).

Anyway, the move announced by Condoleezza Rice brings the initiative back to Washington (and serves three balls: for Tehran, Moscow, Beijing).
