George Rickey
This video (created by Rupert R. Chappelle) shows one of the kinetic sculptures of George Rickey: Cluster of Four Cubes (stainless steel, created in 1992). It is in the garden of the Washingtonian National Gallery and it is a good example of Rickey's art: the solid consistence of David Smith and the aerial grace of Alexander Calder.
The Marsh Plant (stainless steel and lead, created in 1962), on view at the Smithsonian Castle, shows the same similarities with Smith and Calder, perhaps more subtly - or showing more their limits: beyond that we should talk no more about similarities, rather of distances.
