Kim Ki-Duk

Kim Ki-Duk (김기덕) is one of the most impressive movie makers of today. His films are violent, but there is something else beyond. Watching them, another director comes in mind, Polanski, and only for his first feature, made so long ago in Poland: Knife in the Water. There is the suggestion of another universe, parallel with ours, unknown by us, feared by us, while secretly desired. Like in the masterpiece of the Polish master, the main characters in the movies of Kim Ki-Duk behave strangely, seemingly belonging to another world. And it is one of his movies (Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... and Spring) that shows us this another world: innocence, passion, sin, loose of hope, repentance, illumination ... innocence again - the endless road of life.
