Kyoto Contrasts

Hanafubuki is building in her videos her own cinematic language, based on the shapes of the buildings and trees, and alleys, on the movement on the streets: these are her words which communicate each one with itself by contrasting the same image with its negative. There is a common denominator which unites all these words in a perfect whole. It is difficult to define this denominator, as it is wrapped in a aura of grace.

The video was filmed along Oike Dori, one of the main streets in Kyoto.
