William Blake: A Divine Image

Not to be confounded with another of his poems (The Divine Image), this one seems weird at first reading. Actually Blake attained in A Divine Image poetic perfection.

Cruelty has a human heart,
And Jealousy a human face;
Terror the human form divine,
And Secresy the human dress.

The human dress is forged iron,
The human form a fiery forge,
The human face a furnace sealed,
The human heart its hungry gorge.

La crueldad tiene corazón humano
y la envidia humano rostro;
el terror reviste divina forma humana
y el secreto lleva ropas humanas.

Las ropas humanas son de hierro forjado,
la forma humana es fragua llameante,
el rostro humano es caldera sellada
y el corazón humano, su gola hambrienta.

Cruzimea are-o inima de om,
Iar gelozia fata omeneasca;
Teroarea divina forma umana are,
Fatarnicia poarta omenesti vestminte.

Vestmintele ne sunt din fier forjat,
Forma ne e din flacari faurita.
Chipul ne e focar pecetluit
Iar inima al sau gatlej flamand.

(William Blake)
