She is an American anthropologist with Palestinian and Jewish ancestry, teaching at Columbia University, NY. Her work is strongly ethnographic and has focused on three broad issues: the relationship between cultural forms and power; the politics of knowledge and representation; and the dynamics of gender and the question of women’s rights in the Middle East [wiki]. Sounds too academia? I will try make it simpler by talking here on the blog about what she has published so far.
