alezzzix (Alex de Venezuela): Puesto is short for puesto de trabajo, which is a job, also we use it as a synonymous for asiento (seat). For the position a person plays on a team we use posición, you could say puesto and it would be understandable but not common. For locations of events one could use asiento (only if there is a place to sit), lugar or puesto. Puesto also works for a stand, for instance, a hot dog stand would be a puesto de perros calientes. There is also the conjunction puesto que that means because / since / due to, for instance, since you did not come, I had to study by myself, this means puesto que no viniste, tuve que estudiar solo.
