Amanda Vaill
a NY based author, noted for her nonfiction. In two of her books (Everybody Was So Young, and Hotel Florida) she is tackling the Lost Generation, from an interesting perspective: Everybody Was So Young recreates the vibrant life of a social circle in French Riviera on the twenties - a circle gathering American authors and artists who lived in those years in Paris; Hotel Florida follows some members of the Lost Generation fifteen years later on the front of Civil War in Spain). With Somewhere, Amanda Vaill is in the NY artistic milieu: a biography of Jerome Robbins. Is it in any way a subtle continuation of the Lost Generation spirit? Good question.
