Dean is right

a loose network of independent clubs, each with its own agenda (from NY Times of June 3)
The Democratic Party gives the impression to be controlled by a loose network of independent clubs, each with its own agenda: pro-choice, pro-environment, pro-gays and the like. The common denominator seems to be kind of sex & the city.

It isn't totally accurate. Democrats are also Mark Warner, the former governor of Virginia, or Barak Obama, the senator for Illinois. And many others, brilliant guys, who know the realities of America. They have vision and stamina. They are what the Democratic Party should be.

Howard Dean came with a good approach: to build a firm Democratic presence everywhere. He targets the red states, where there is no chance to win this year. Dean is right because only this way the Dems will build a steady majority over the whole country.

Those who oppose the vision of Dean should consider the lessons of the past - in the 50's the GOP took the same approach, focusing on the South, where they were weak - and the South became eventually Republican.
