Surprise Visit of Bush to Iraq

A video conference had been scheduled, but eventually a direct face to face meeting was preferred. Bush came to Baghdad to get a clear sense of the new Iraqi leader priorities and how Washington can help. The visit is a total surprise - Maliki learned about it only when the helicopter landed in the Green Zone, following a six-minute ride from the airport. Only Bush's closest advisors had been informed.
