Seferis

Giorgos Seferis
(1900 - 1971)

It has been one of my desires to read some day some of the poems by Seferis. A desire that I have since 1963, when he received the Nobel for Literature. I was seventeen and an ardent reader of Contemporanul, a Romanian literary magazine with a distinguished tradition, a publication that succeeded to keep its distinction throughout difficult years. It was there that I learned about Seferis. Seventeen years have passed. It is time to forget my age I have now, to be again the boy of seventeen and to look again for his work.
