Witkacy was the nickname (Witk-acy, from Witkiewicz Ignacy). He was a Polish novelist, playwright, philosopher, painter, photographer.
His father (named also Stanislaw Witkiewicz) had been also an artist. Here is an oil on canvass made by Witkiewizc the father, in 1887.
Coming back to the son, the selfportrait was made in 1910. Witkacy killed himself in 1939, when the Germans entered Poland. Much of his work was destroyed in the bombing of Warsaw.
