Three tetrachords: the B A C H motif, followed by its inversion (D♯ E C♯ D), and then by a transposition down a minor sixth (G♭ F A♭ G). If we apply an inversion to the whole row, what we get will be its retrograde (G, A♭, F, G♭, D, C♯, E, D♯, H, C, A, B). Sounds difficult? Then, listen to the music: no guts, no glory!
