Geert Wilders - Europe's Most Dangerous Person?

He was once refused entry to Britain. He compares the Qu’ran to Hitler’s Mein Kampf and calls for it to be banned. He has proposed a tax on wearing headscarves. And he is also the first politician ever to stand trial on charges of ‘incitement to hatred’. Geert Wilders, instantly recognizable for his quiff of platinum blonde hair, is Holland’s most controversial and well-known politician and, some argue, Europe’s most dangerous man.

I am against any racist attitude when it comes to Islam, as I am against any racist attitude anywhere it appears. I understand that multicultural integration raises huge issues, however any racist attitude, any conspiratorial hysteria, any arrogance, must be avoided in tackling them. And that not only for moral considerations: also because reality goes on without taking care of racist concepts,  of conspiratorial theories, of arrogant dreams. And this is true whenever racist issues come out, in West Europe, or in East Europe, in the Middle East, or anywhere else.

This being said, I would like a documentary to be more balanced: not all Wilders' partisans are stupid, and some of their arguments merit a discussion. Am I wrong? Life is bigger than any attitudes, as progressive or reactionary they can be, as based on reason or on stupidity as they could be.

On the other hand, there are a lot of movies that are far from balanced, starting with The Birth of  Nation, and continuing with Eisenstein and Ivens, and so many others. Life is also bigger than balanced versus unbalanced approaches.

Is this movie a masterpiece? Gosh, no, but it makes its point, with guts and irony, and I'd love to see also other movies of these guys, the Red Rebels.
